What happens when someone taps?
An activated Cirqle card opens its linked public digital profile on a compatible phone. The recipient needs a browser and internet access, but does not need to install Cirqle or sign in to view the public profile.
A tap shares access to the profile. It does not automatically import the recipient’s address book, create a sales lead or establish a new account.
Using an iPhone
Apple documents background NFC tag reading on iPhone XS and later. Wake and unlock the phone, then hold the top of it near the card. Open the notification when it appears.
Reading may be interrupted while the camera, Wallet or another NFC session is active. Close those screens and try again. Hardware support for opening an NFC link does not establish support for every in-app card-claiming feature.
Using an Android phone
The phone must have NFC hardware and NFC enabled. Search for NFC in Settings; menu names vary by manufacturer. Unlock the phone and bring the card close to its NFC antenna, often on the back.
Move slowly if the first position does not work. A thick or metal case can interfere. Android phones without NFC can still open your profile through its link or a QR code.
Use QR when tapping is inconvenient
Show the QR-sharing option from your digital profile and let the recipient scan it with a compatible camera. They can open the profile link in their browser.
The standard Cirqle physical card has an unprinted back. Do not expect a printed QR code on it; show the digital QR or share the profile link instead.
Claiming your card is a separate step
Claiming associates your own compatible Cirqle card with your account. Opening someone’s public profile is a different action and does not claim their card.
Sign in to your account and follow the card-claiming instructions available in your app version. If that option is unavailable or the card is already associated with an account, contact Cirqle. Do not overwrite the tag or assume every device supports the same claiming flow.
Before relying on it at an event
Test your activated card with another phone, check the public profile details and keep the profile link or digital QR ready as an alternative.
Use the permanent /app download page to check store availability. An iPhone being able to read the card is not a claim that an iOS app listing is available.

Frequently asked questions
Does NFC require Bluetooth pairing?
Reading the card’s NFC link does not require Bluetooth pairing. Bring a compatible phone near the card and open the resulting link.
What if my phone cannot read the card?
Check NFC support and settings, try a different antenna position, or use the profile QR/link. Contact Cirqle if an activated card still does not work.
Is an iPad guaranteed to tap the card?
No. Do not assume phone NFC support applies to tablets. Open the profile link or use a compatible QR scanner instead.
